Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. When she was a kid she was enrolled in her school, the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma was just six when she made the decision to become an actress. She trained for several years at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford where she was taught acting and singing. At the age of 10, Emma had taken part in numerous Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was first cast in 1999. Emma was found by agents via the recommendation of her Oxford teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that following eight auditions, she and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first appearance on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. The movie beat all previous records for opening day and weekend sales, and it was the highest-grossing film of 2001. The film was praised by critics and the performances of the three leading young actors. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her excellent performance. In the following days, Emma was shortlisted for five awards for her performance in the film, winning the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in an Feature Film.
